Drowning in stress or pressure to perform, to be perfect, to be happy, to be social, to be everything everyone expects you to be, including yourself? It is exhausting and impossible to achieve everything society tells us we should be. 

Society enjoys telling us exactly who we need to be so that is can offer us 1,000+ ways to be that person…if we have money to pay for the solutions. Since, most of us can’t do that, we hurt ourselves by trying to do it on our own. We buy into diet culture, self-help culture, success culture, positivity culture, all the different avenues offering the “answer” to living the white picket fence life. Unfortunately, it is not real, and we burn ourselves out trying to make it real. 

What is real? Well, life is hard; life is messy; life is pain; life is joy; life is a rollercoaster; life is worth being honest with ourselves about. Reality can be a b*tch that we want to out run and hide away from, but it always finds us. Once it catches up, it leaves us feeling  drained, sad, stressed, helpless, unhappy, and so much more. All the emotions we had been suppressing come out, and it is overwhelming and maybe even paralyzing. Burnout is real and heavy, but it is temporary. Learning how not to suppress your emotions and not hold your tongue and complete the stress response cycle can lessen the blow of burnout now and in the future.
