Trauma Resources

Nightmares, flashbacks, hypervigilance (constantly alert or aware of things around you), panic, depression, avoidance, and relationship problems are all signs one may be dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), aka trauma. Therapists don’t think we should say the “t” word to clients, but I say call it what it is. We shouldn’t be afraid of it…this isn’t Voldemort from Harry Potter. I also want to clarify that trauma isn’t only big terrible, painful, and life changing events. Trauma can also be experiencing a loss, getting in a wreck, having surgery, the end of a relationship, etc. Unfortunately, no one is exempt from pain. But, if we take healthy steps after something painful happens, the chance of developing PTSD significantly decreasescue therapy and EMDR. Vulnerability isn’t everyone’s favorite past time (I get it), but EMDR is brief and powerful for so many people. Although I’d love to help you heal via talk and EMDR therapy, I understand one may not be ready just yet. In the meantime, more info and resources are below for trauma symptoms you may be experiencing.

*The video below is what EMDR will look like virtually with Stephanie. You can use sounds, visuals, or both to create the “bilateral stimulation” needed to process and heal trauma.
